My official debut as Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities was at the fifth International Conference on Women in Physics organized by the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP). The event was hosted by the Canadian Association of Physicists, the Committee to Encourage Women in Physics and the Laurier Centre for Women in Science at Wilfred Laurier University in Waterloo. It was so inspiring to see over 250 female delegates from 50 countries converse, connect and change the field of physics in order to foster the participation of women in science. Conferences such as this one are important to help encourage women to pursue their passion for science and to encourage them to choose a career in Physics. They help us strengthen relationships and break down barriers- all while connection people and nations
