My old friend (and a courageous figure in the Civil Right movement - TopicsExpress

My old friend (and a courageous figure in the Civil Right movement as well as the feminist movement) noted that of course Hamas had rejected the cease fire. the problem is that while Israel talked with Egypt, no one actually talked to Hamas, and two of its central demands were ignored. One, the release of all the prisoners (more than a hundred) picked up in their search for the killers of the three Israeli youth. Two, to end the blockade of Israel. Let me ask folks what they think Israels view might be if the Arab states imposed a total blockade on it, closing the airports, the sea, and all land routes. How long would Israel accept that and what would my friend, who is so critical of Hamas, say about it? I do condemn the firing of rockets from Hamas into Israel - an act that, because it has no military targets, is inherently criminal (as I think the massive Israeli air strikes on Gaza are also).
