My older brother used to wrestle with me. It wasn’t a contest, I was four and he was fourteen. Once he had me in his hold I could do nothing but scream for help. In 2 Peter we read: While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by whom a person is overcome, by him also he is brought into bondage. (2 Peter 2:19 NKJV) The false teacher of any day makes grand promises, but they themselves are captives of corruption. They are overcome and don’t even know to cry for help. Those who follow their empty sensuous selfish teachings will also be slaves of corruption. The lure of liberty puts you right into bondage. It is vital that you refuse their teaching and run from their temptations. Don’t give in to their sin but run to the truth and stay there in the shelter of God’s love.
