My once a day - for now- update on the political situation in Thailand. The protests for the most part have remained non violent today. There have been isolated incidents such as the one I am sharing. The Foreign Ministry has been occupied and the Finance Ministry is also under siege. 16 countries have now issued travel advisories for Thailand, telling their citizens to avoid protest areas. The U.S. has not issued a warning, but has issued a statement advising of traffic delays and also advising citizens to be alert and aware of your surroundings. I personally think there is potential for violence and escalation, since the two opposing groups are increasing in numbers and becoming more frustrated as the situation continues. It is important to note however that Thailand is an unusually peaceful country when it comes to these kind of things, so we will just have to see what develops tomorrow and the following days. It is entirely possible that we are in for a long drawn out anti-government protest. That is what I have for today Nov 25, 2013.
