My one clear thought as I went through each second of this difficult week: I married the right man. And as I slept last night, I thought of the vows of marriage and how incomplete they are when we state them. It should be: I take thee (and all the shadows that come with you), to have (and not have completely), and to hold (but not too tightly), to love (and hate sometimes for good energy) and to cherish (or be irritated with) from this day forward (including all the difficult days) til death (and life as it sometimes keeps us apart).
