My opening claim: Did you know that muslims believe they are as good as allah? In fact, muslims believe that they can earn their way to paradise by their own merit. Let’s systematically examine where this belief comes from. To begin, we will highlight the focal point of islamic teaching for entrance into paradise, the 5 Pillars of Islam. 1. Declaration of faith – Shahada 2. Obligatory Prayer – Salat 5 times a day 3. Compulsory Giving – Zakat 4. Fasting 5. Pilgrimage to Mecca Based off of the requirements of the 5 Pillars of Islam, it is quite clear that Islam is a WORKS BASED religion which requires you to earn your way into heaven. Yet, this is only scratching the surface. You see, there is an ENTRANCE FEE to make it into allah’s paradise. The FEE must be paid by the individual attempting to enter into allah’s paradise. Surah 4:57 “But those who believe and do righteous deeds - We will admit them to gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide forever. For them therein are purified spouses, and We will admit them to deepening shade.” Surah 43:72 “Such will be the Garden of which ye are made heirs for your good deeds in life.” Notice that those who enter allah’s paradise must not only believe but conduct good deeds. This in short requires one to be good enough to make it to heaven. Now muslims will retort that I don’t know what I am talking about, but their own koran refutes this hasty dismissal. Surah 101:6-9 “Then as for one whose scales are heavy [with good deeds], He will be in a pleasant life. But as for one whose scales are light, His refuge will be an abyss.” Here is the problem that muslims face with this rational from the koran. How good does a muslim have to be, and how many good deeds does one have to do to gain into Janna? Who is the one judging? If it is Allah, then if one can earn Janna by their good deeds, then one would have to be equal with Allah since your are judged by his standard? This is a scary moment for muslims, as they have no true assurance of salvation. You see no muslim knows when they die, if they are going to Janna or to the hell-fire. In fact, not even their supposed greatest prophet knew what his allah would do with him. Surah 46:9 “Say, I am not something original among the messengers, nor do I know what will be done with me or with you. I only follow that which is revealed to me, and I am not but a clear warner.” (Sahih al-Bukhari, Volume 2, Book 23, Number 334) “…..By Allah, I too wish him good, but by Allah, I do not know what Allah will do with me though I am Allahs Apostle. By Allah, I never attested the piety of anyone after that. If prayer rituals (salat 5 times a day), and buying your way into heaven (paying zakat) or starving yourself with fasting was all that was needed then why did allah confirm the Torah which required the sacrificing of animals? Is allah not all knowing? If one can earn their way into heaven by being good or doing good deeds, then does that not mean that one is EQUAL with allah since we would have to be judged by his standard of good to enter into heaven? Now muslims have attempted to remedy this theological conflict by shot-gunning Surahs that speak of allah being graceful, merciful and forgiving. Yet a problem arises with this type of logic. You see muslims much like their prophet muhammad, humanize their allah thus again ushering in epic dilemmas. Now since Muslims like Mohammad appeal to the mercy and forgiveness of their Allah without exercising allahs entire nature, they appear to be selective on what part of Allah they will use! You see, they conveniently omit the holiness and righteousness of God to appeal to such mercy and oft-forgiveness. Yet, this mercy and forgiveness is found in the holiness and righteousness of God. To be holy and righteous, God must punish and judge the sins of all people including believers. To merely forgive is to overlook sin which ultimately negates the holiness and righteousness. It appears that allah merely excuses sins and allows his creation to be just as good as he???? IF ALLAH IS A “HOLY” AND “RIGHTEOUS” GOD, THEN HE WOULD HAVE TO JUDGE THE SINS OF ALL PEOPLE TO INCLUDE THE BELIEVERS. SO HOW DOES ALLAH JUDGE AND PUNISH THE SINS OF A MUSLIM? Can a muslim truly be judged by allah’s standard of good? From my discussions with fellow muslims, it appears they believe it is their goodness that will allow them into heaven!!! If allah does not judge you and punish you for your sins, then can allah truly be viewed as a Holy God if he is merely overlooking your sins? There has to be justice and judgment for sins; yet merely saying you forgive them does not represent this justice.
