My plane ride home was on Deltas new 737-900 aircraft, and I must - TopicsExpress

My plane ride home was on Deltas new 737-900 aircraft, and I must say I like the new design and amenities a lot. I was in coach, and enjoyed a little extra leg room in the exit row. To start, the lighting has been given an overhaul, with a calming blue hue along the ceiling and above the overhead bins (which have been made larger and given new curved doors which actually provide more space in the aisles). This change to the bin design means a 6-foot guy like me can actually stand up in front of my aisle seat (without having to duck!). The overhead vent has a new design with improved airflow control, and the passenger light is greatly improved (you can actually move it so that is not lighting your torso, but the area more in front of your body). The seat belts have been given a protective leatherette covering around the part of the belt that comes in contact with your body, making it much more comfortable. But my favorite improvement is the back of the seat in front of you...where there is a tray that folds down (instead of being inside the armrest, which always narrows the seats). And there is a screen for every seat with lots of free TV options (including HBO and Showtime programs) and plenty of movies available for rent...plus tons of CDs (everything from Broadway to country to pop to classical) from which you may select tracks for a playlist, and also many games (crossword, sudoku, Bejeweled Blitz, and my choice, an improved trivia game). As a bonus, there is now a USB port and a standard electrical outlet at every seat. Wow! I am impressed. #delta #classy
