My prototype custom case arrived today fresh from the production - TopicsExpress

My prototype custom case arrived today fresh from the production line in Australia, via Christchurch to Hamilton... Water proof, dust proof, anti corrosive, temperature resistant with IP67 rating, with inline wheels. Yes its the only one of its kind with the custom cavity tooling for a Steinberger 5Str Synapse bass. Working in conjunction with Dan at Cases.co.nz Christchurch a private, Australian owned company, plus the talented production team in Brisbane. I had to work within these measurements, Width x Depth x Height: Internal 1087 x 367 x 135mm, External 1147 x 436 x 151mm, Base/Lid Split 46/90mm which is standard measurements for a guitar case, not a bass case which are usually taller in length. The plan was, to use the standardized guitar case outer shell (since my Steinberger Synapse is between that length) and re-tool its cavity to fit it. I must of measured my bass a hundred times just to make sure, the body width, the body length from this angle and that angle, the thickness of the neck, the angle of the neck, the width of the neck, the over-all depth of the bass from the highest point to the lowest, the angles of the top and lower cut-away and so on... After three weeks on and off communication with production, editing on my Adobe PS-CC image software, I finally submitted my templates, measurements, photos and special requirements, (shit what a painstakingly mish that was) and waited for the outcome whilst on tour in aussie this past month. The whole process from design to production to delivery took a little over 6 weeks. I tore into the parcel like Wolverine desperate for some scooby snacks and ripped out the thing to expose its full and awesomeness shining glory... nah, I neatly cut open the box with a craft knife, removed it gently from the cardboard packing and placed it down ever so gently :P... a bit of anticipation mixed with nerves as I opened the lid, but to my joy, the cavity shape was instantly recognizable... but now... the test fit... Feeling a little reluctant because if any of my measurements were a little off... my bass would not fit and all our efforts would be squashed, but... the fit was perfect... as requested, they added two extra narrow cavities for cable, tuner and tools storage... theres probably a couple of little things Id like to add here and there like a velcro strap as extra precaution to hold it in place, but Im freakin happy with this, my bass is happy... now the next mish, to measure one up for my Steinberger Spirit. Edit: Price $750 NZL Includes, all hardware, machine tooling, shipping and delivery. Im over cheap cases, if you seen what happens with baggage handlers and your instrument!!
