My response to Sony cancelling The Interview -- No, this is not an example of America bowing to terrorists. This is an example of Americans thinking we own everything. Sony - and all of its many facets and subsidiaries - is a Japanese-owned corporation. They are essentially standing in the middle of a scorched earth battlefield right now, and are licking their wounds. As for large theater chains bowing to pressure, Id imagine they would be far more afraid of an information leak than any movie studio. I worked for a large movie theater chain. The amount of embarrassing, legally actionable, or even criminal behavior that happened behind the scenes would -- if leaked to the public -- destroy their industry. Lastly, North Korea blew it. If its leaders goal was to prevent people from seeing this movie, he should have realized that its a Seth Rogen comedy. Dude makes about five of these things a year. Even the people who do go to see them have vague recollections of them at best. Of course now when we feel like its a movie we are not allowed to see, every flag-waving citizen of our country will be lining up around the block to see this film.
