My response to the NBN question; We know like with anything they do, Labor’s version of the National Broadband Network (NBN) is way over price and way behind schedule. For those who genuinely want the best and latest technology with the fast speed, the only NBN policy you should support is the Liberals. Labor’s NBN will not be delivered and available for at least another one and a half to two decades. So far all they have done is duplicate some of the existing fibre network infrastructure in areas where it is already available. Rather than focusing on areas with unsatisfactory Internet service and areas difficult to access and in most need of upgrade, how can they expect to be on time for the rest of the rollout if they can’t be on time for the areas with greatest accessibility, Labor also plans to regulate the price of usage to ensure it is unaffordable. The Liberals will utilise logic and intelligence to ensure a multitude of technologies are available at an acceptable price in a competitive market far sooner than Labor could possibly dream of achieving. As for the so called issue of only having fibre to the node, it is important to understand that 100mbps is available on copper and that the only places that fibre could be fully utilised is in a place of business or where the line will be used by multiple sources, therefore, requiring extensive band width, the Liberal’s policy takes this into account, in that where speed is important and bandwidth not as much, your own copper line is more than enough for most houses and businesses. The very few houses and any businesses that require greater bandwidth can pay for their private line to be fibre from the node to the point of use. Some people say that everyone wants fibre from the node to the point of use, when this is simply not true of those who already have fibre actually available, most people have refused to connect because of the price of the service. Simply put, Labor plans to waste 94 billion and the Coalition wish to invest 29.5 billion.
