My second year at Berkmar we were having tryouts when I noticed this good looking young man in a yellow t-shirt tearing it up on drills. I had no idea who he was. I called him over and asked his name and what grade he was in. When he said he was just a sophomore, I couldnt believe it and Coach Mike Herring and I grinned ear to ear. Turned out that was Shawn Ikpa one of the greatest players I ever coached; helped lead us to Back to Back state titles and was all state two years in a row; went to the Naval Academy and is now very successful.
