My son is Byron. Byron was diagnosed with T Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia on 26th April 2008 at 17mths of age. Within the first 24 hours he was in ICU for 4 days. He had over 3 years of treatment, with a roller coaster of setbacks but successfully completed treatment on 22nd August 2011. He was in remission for 2 years and being treated for Bronchiactisis, a side affect from long term chemo use. On 22nd August 2013, exactly 2 years to the day, Byron relapsed. This time he has had 3 months of intensive chemo and a Bone Marrow Transplant including Conditioning of more chemo and total body radiation. Byron is currently post treatment at the tail end of the 100 days isolation and having some side affects of the transplant, all part of the process I am informed. His BMAs have been clean and we are awaiting the results of the donor engraftment blood test to confirm 100% donor cells. Hes my warrior and my hero.
