“My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him. - TopicsExpress

“My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation” - (Psalm 62:1-2). Have you ever felt like the little boy who was told he should not be afraid of the dark because the Lord was with him? The boy said, I know that, but I want somebody with skin on. Sometimes when we feel lonely, we find ourselves wanting to talk with someone who has skin on. But God never slumbers or sleeps. He is closer to us than any brother (Proverbs 18:24). Maybe you feel alone because you refuse to compromise your biblical convictions. Your friends make fun of you and challenge your faith. Noah would have understood your feelings. When God gave him the seemingly absurd instruction to build an ark, he probably felt as though he needed to talk with someone who had skin on. Instead, he listened to the invisible God who was and is the great I Am. During the years of construction of this huge vessel, people laughed at Noah. They felt sorry for his family and wrote him off as being insane, until it began to rain and rain and rain. When you think about true loneliness, remember the Garden of Gethsemane. Nothing we face can compare to the depth of loneliness Jesus experienced. Not only did His friends and disciples abandon Him, but, for one brief moment, Jesus even cried out to ask why God had also forsaken Him. Christ experienced the deepest level of loneliness so that you might have eternal fellowship with the Father who loves you perfectly. In Christ, never will you be forsaken by God because of Christ’s finished work on the cross. You will never be alone, again.
