My statement on the VAs release of data on veterans wait times at health care facilities: The data released by the Veterans Administration is a step toward the kind of transparency that should be standard practice. I will be asking the VA for additional information to verify the accuracy of this data. We must be sure that our veterans are receiving the care they need and they are not falling victim to “secret” secondary lists designed to make wait times appear shorter than they actually are. I will also be asking the VA to release data on every VA medical facility. It is essential that we know how long veterans who use smaller facilities in their communities, such as the one in Sierra Vista, are required to wait for care. Wait times must be reduced for all veterans at all VA medical facilities. Veterans have stepped forward to serve our nation and we now must give them the prompt, efficient and quality care they were promised.
