My story begins back on Friday, August 15, 2014...I found a lump in my left breast while rinsing off in the shower. I didnt immediately freak out, but I was worried. I went to my OB/GYN on Monday 8/18/14; he sent me for mammogram and ultrasound right away. I received a phone call the next evening, saying I needed to return to the imaging center for a biopsy. On Wednesday 8/20/14, I went in for my scheduled biopsy. When the radiologist came in, she told me a shadowy area had shown up on the mammogram; not too far from the lump that I found. She biopsied both locations, and I was scheduled to come back the following Tuesday to discuss my results. That was the longest, most stressful week of waiting Ive ever had to endure! On Tuesday, August 26, 2014; I sat face to face with the radiologist as she told me words I never thought Id hear...youve got breast cancer I felt like the room was spinning. My husband and mother were both there with me; all we could do was cry at first. I realized I needed to compose myself, because I was about to get more information than my brain could handle at that moment. I was referred to a surgeon to discuss my options...
