My sweet, sweet Puna passed on Saturday after a beautiful morning - TopicsExpress

My sweet, sweet Puna passed on Saturday after a beautiful morning together at Kawela Bay on the North Shore of Oahu. She lived a full, eleven and a half years and did over 30 legs of airline travel as a service animal. She spent a summer in the Hamptons, shes paddled the Boundary Waters, shes been to Times Square, Vermont, the InnOut on Hollywood Blvd, and all over Nicaragua. Shes pooped in the Atlanta airport, thrown-up in First Class, gone missing in Wiakiki and found on the Punahou exit off the H-1 highway. Shes caught a wave at Puaena Point where her and I stayed standing the entire ride. Shes been to Chinamans Hat and the Mokes via kayak. She was obedient and grumbly in her old age but she never stopped loving her tennis ball. Shes resting under a newly planted red ginger bush in the corner of the Nelsons yard, here in Kailua. I am so heartbroken but, comforted by the memories of joy and boundless adventure that will forever accompany her spirit. I am finally ready to write this post, and celebrate her life with all who had the chance to know this one-in-a-million animal. RIP my Puna - there will never be another like you.
