My take on the political conflict in Thailand: 1. The political - TopicsExpress

My take on the political conflict in Thailand: 1. The political conflict is only the tip of the iceberg of a deeper transformation crisis. 2. The structural forces (complexity of economy, pluralization of society, social justice conflict) overstretch the traditional political order and erode the normative foundation. 3. The only way to overcome the transformation crisis is to adapt the political order to the needs of a new society. 4. In the vertigo of change (fear of social decline and loss of identity) the renegotiation of the social contract can only be the outcome of a struggle between those who seek to uphold the status quo and those who want change. 5. This struggle cannot be won without the middle classes. This is why the fear and anger of the middle class (abuse of power, corruption) need to be addressed. 6. This is why only a social contract based on a social compromise between all classes can resolve the social conflict. 7. Failure to resolve the transformation crisis cripples the preparedness of society to embrace change and erodes the ability to innovate. 8. Lack of political and economic innovation sentences a society to be stuck in the middle income trap and the vicious cycle of conflict. m.youtube/watch?v=yUP_yTuQHJE&feature=youtu.be
