My third poem... published today... Keith Jacksons & Friends. PNG ATTITUDE BLOG... THE DAY MY LIFE BEGAN Life’s a precious gift to humanity A scarce resource given to me A moment of conception in my mother’s womb Its significance defines the way I will live I did not know, but that’s when my life began I had no contact with the world except my mom She carried me within her every day Her thoughts were my thoughts in my new mind Her food was my food each living day All of her burdens became mine also She was my source of survival - a true friend Fears and foes were unknown to me I was never told of any of them It was a total mystery in my little world I heard whispers under mom’s breath Telling me I would be fine in God’s loving care Although I did not understand her words I took it to heart This brought a feeling I learned was confidence In this little world of complete mystery A world forbidden and out of reach I dwell there and live in simplicity I knew nothing - not even my gender How long I would stay was unknown to me Patience was what I developed all day long As days went by and months passed through I began to grow without my understanding Only mom knew that I grew inside her Her physical appearance signalled I will come one day She was happy and prepared to teach me new things The ones that I never had experienced before When my time in the womb was complete I was ready to encounter this new world It was the day mom was in deep bondage of birth pains Her comfort zones taken away Behold I was coming with all her effort This is a day to be written in the history book At last I was born with a loud cry A cry of significance to my new family This is the way everyone came into this world This day I was separated from my true friend, my mother Congratulations someone was born in Papua New Guinea
