My thought on good Work Every good work commands outstanding divine reward! Good work is a veritable validation of the force of divinity in humanity. Only the good God that can move man to do good! On the other hand, the devil can never inspire man to do good! There is a good work for us all to do during this Christmas season! It is the good work of putting smiles on the faces of people around us, especially the less privileged. This good work is about sharing the blessings of God which we have graciously received from Him with others. It is about going out of our way to make some people happy via practical provisions! But the method or approach and motivations of our good works matter to God! For instance, are we going to storm an orphanage or motherless babies home with a media crew showcasing our good deeds to the general public or are we going to do ours quietly devoid of any fanfare? The Bible says, TAKE heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly. Mat. 6:1-4 In this passage, Jesus Christ is sounding a note of warning to us not to give alms or do our good works before men, to be seen by them. For God does not reward such acts of self projection or self glorification. When we are doing good like visiting orphanages or giving to the less privileged, we should not make noise about it.
