My thought with the song, Tam Lin is that it shows all three - TopicsExpress

My thought with the song, Tam Lin is that it shows all three monotheistic CULTURES (not just religions) at the same time. My thought has been that EVERY of our cultures, with women, have been the same. A womans experience in Christian, Jewish and Muslim (as well as other) faiths has been that they marry a man thats been set up. Some Christian faiths (notably in the European and then US and other cultures) have been notably down on the simple womens rights as recently as 1960s, 1940s... Now, the struggle is abroad. Other struggles are abroad. We cant SAY Us v. Them because they ARE us. If we cant find SOME dialogue, then were failed as a species. Tam Lin is about a woman that is impregnated by a Sidhe -- an elf. An otherworldly being. She challenges her father that none of his Gentlemen would EVER have the courage to go against culture and claim her unborn child as his own. This version is an English-language version, but it really is the only one I could find. https://youtube/watch?v=c3yTEUnyYDA . My goal is to take the story, rewrite it, dont lose Tam Lin, but definitely insert the song into any Muslim culture willing to say that ISIL is wrong.
