My thoughts Look around. Our world is full of inexpected - TopicsExpress

My thoughts Look around. Our world is full of inexpected events. In fact, most of what is happening occures in the realm of the unexpected. How many times a day one will witness something out of the ordinary, whether its something as beautiful as a butterfly gently landing on you or as unfortunate and horrific as someone getting hit by a car in front of your eyes? Everywhere, at any moment, amongst the ordinary events of our lives, are some extraordinary events happening that no one could have foreseen and Im quite sorry to say that there is nothing magical about those. Time is defined by events and in this very second you are reading these words, an almost infinite amount of events are happening in the universe, some of them we could qualify as common, expected, normal, but out of this almost infinite amount, a tiny portion, which despite being a small fraction of all what is occuring represents a lot of events, is to be considered unusual, extraordinary, incomprehensible... They happen all the time and in some cases, there are people like you and me to witness them. This is the nature of our physical world which is governed by physical laws. Extremes are part of this world and are actually part of any conceivable dynamic physical universe. In a more normal world, there would still be extremes... the only case in which extremes would be inexistent is the one of a perfectly uniform physical world where everything would be at rest due to the fact that nothing would have influence over anything... As humans, we tend to believe things that are not necessarily backed up by evidence, our need for closure makes us see the world more as we would like it to be than as it really is. I heard a lot of people saying they believe in a god because they prayed for a sign and they were given a sign... How can you even be true to yourself when as soon as you are asking for a sign in prayers, you are consciously starting to look around for out of the ordinary events that are in fact happening all the time. Anyone who is genuinely seeking truth must start to admit to themselves that prayer is an irrelevant monologue followed by a conscious and biased search for confirmation in events with a high probability of hapening anyway. Have a good day. Pat
