My thoughts on Great pizza, after all, I be the LA Pizza Maven! ..left to right: Pizzeria Bianco(the best) one of the pizzaioli most responsible...let me back up: as a James Beard award winner, the pizzaiolo most responsible for the Pizza revolution! ; Antica Pizzeria(AVPN- Peppe Miele) the person most responsible for changing the perception of pizza in the US and around the world from merely being sumthin to cover with many toppings, then fold and then mindlessly devour to an appreciation of pizza making as an historically artisanal undertaking that fed millions of poor working class Italians as well as Queen Margherita herself and most importantly, elevating my own pizza consciousness and saving me from the Pizza Hell that was Los Angeles...grazie mille, Peppe!; Tonys Pizza Napoletana(this was an incredible pie, my first Margherita w/sausage made by the multi-winner of Napoletana pizza competitions and an incredible human force for pizzatopia,Tony Gemignani; Legendary pizzaolo Anthony Mangieri of Una Pizza Napoletana(formerly of NYC and now in SF SOMA district...Undoubtedly, the individual most responsible in NYC for elevating truly transcendent pizza and who also brought an obsessiveness of artistry that created a legend); Indubitably, the best pizza and restaurant in the Sierras, The Prospector of Twain Harte, Robert Martin is VPN certified and as obsessive a pizzaiolo/chef as youll ever have the pleasure of feeding: Picco Pizzeria, (Bruce Hill of the Bay Area,also of 00 pizzeria) and Pizzaiolo (of Oakland via Alice waters, great pizza...this was my first and best potato pizza...what a combo!) and me doin what i love at Apizza Heaven in Sedona, Arizona, not only awesome New Haven style pizza but located in one of the worlds most sublime natural locations!
