My thoughts on Obamacare thus far: Anyone with half a brain saw this coming. The only way to both subsidize and provide coverage for the already-sick and the elderly (as if you can insure people who are already sick) was to raise prices for the young and the healthy, which results in a cruel and unaffordable spectacle of wealth transfer from the already financially-strapped youth to the older, sicker, and wealthier. Furthermore, the inevitable consequence of the government mandating types of coverage for all (for example, maternity coverage for all, such as for males and postmenopausal women, etc.) is that plans that dont meet the muster of the governments standards get cancelled, prices rise, and personal choice and market discovery processes be damned. The exchange website is broken, the insurance market, already cartelized by years of mounting regulation, licensing, and other barriers to entry, is being consolidated further. Plans are getting cancelled (you get to keep the plan that Obama approves of), and consumer choice is rapidly shrinking. This is what government health care looks like. Waitll you get a load of single payer - it only gets better from here. -Diamond
