My time spent in Yucatan was time Ill never forget. Karla is a great and effective teacher and the experience of total immersion in the culture while still having a strong support network (between the school and the family she sets students up with) is a wonderful and life changing thing. Having the chance to spend time in a country and actually begin to be integrated into the culture rather than being isolated within the limits of a typical educational institution provides a totally different way of learning language and culture. I was made to feel like a part of the family I was staying with and by the end of my stay noticed significant changes in myself. The immersion process really opens ones mind to assimilate concepts and philosophies previously inconceivable in ones native culture and language. This process, this change in gestalt if you will, I believe is a hugely important thing for the development on ones philosophy and ones mind and personality. The program at PICY is truly an invaluable opportunity. Mil gracias Karla!!
