My top 15 favorite oscar nominated films of the 1990s: #13 The Godfather Part 3 (1990) Directed by Francis Ford Coppola Starring: Al Pacino, Andy Garcia, Talia Shire, Diane Keaton, Eli Wallach and Joe Mantegna. Nominated for 7 academy awards but won none. In the midst of trying to legitimise his business dealings in 1979 New York and Italy, ageing mafia Don Michael Corleone (Pacino) seeks to vow for his sins while taking a young protege under his wing (Garcia). The first 2 Godfather films are 2 of my all time favorite films. This part 3 is a good movie but no where near the quality of the 70s masterpieces. But it is still exiting, and dramatic, and Andy Garcia does a great job as Vincent Mancini, the illegitimate son of Sonny Corleone. Only the fact that Michael tries to go legit and the complete miscast of Coppolas daughter Sofia lowers the quality of the film. Now dont get me wrong, I love Sofia Coppola but not in this film, it should have been Winona Ryder IMO. What does the M4s think of this film?
