Things That Make A Relationship Great . Everybody wants to be one of “those” couples – the ones that really seem to have their act together. They are happy when they are with each other, and just as happy when they are apart because they have confidence in each other and in their relationship. If you are wondering what it is that these couples do differently so that you can improve your own relationship, there’s no secret recipe or magic potion, but there are a few things that almost every successful relationship has in common. Read on and we’ll list the ingredients that you need to have to make your relationship great! 1. Mutual Respect When a couple has mutual respect, it makes a world of difference. It means that even if they don’t agree with each other, they will listen to each other’s point of view and value it. They don’t belittle each other or ignore each other. Couples with mutual respect treat each other the way that they want to be treated. This makes both of them feel confident in their importance to each other. 2. Honesty A couple that is honest with each other, and with themselves, is a couple that is strong and confident. When you’re talking about honesty within a relationship, it goes far beyond telling each other where you were the previous night and who you were with. It is about hopes and dreams, fears and feelings. Honesty can be very difficult, especially because people are often afraid that if they’re honest about their darkest inner secrets, they may lose the other person’s affection. 3. The Ability to Talk It’s one thing to chat about what happened during the course of your day or to relate the plot of your favorite TV show. But it takes a couple that truly cares and is well-practiced and skilled in the art of communication to be able to listen to each other and truly hear each other. Every truly strong relationship is one in which both partners ask questions, listen hard to the answers, and truly empathize with the other person’s feelings and beliefs. 4. Trust Finally, it is absolutely critical that both partners in a relationship trust each other implicitly. If one of you is suspicious of the other, or constantly fears betrayal then there is no balance in the relationship. In order for both partners to be on an even footing there must be complete trust.
