My top 15 favorite oscar nominated films of the 1990s: #5 The Silence of the Lambs (1991) Directed by Jonathan Demme Starring: Jodie Foster, Anthony Hopkins, Scott Glenn and Ted Levine. Nominated for 7 academy awards and won 5 for adapted screenplay, leading actress (Foster), leading actor (Hopkins), direction and best picture. A young FBI cadet (Foster) must confide in an incarcerated and manipulative serial killer and cannibal (Hopkins) to receive his help on catching another serial killer (Levine) who skins his victims. I love this film, one of the few where the remake surpasses the original. Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins are brilliant in their roles but the one that really shines is Ted Levine as Buffalo Bill and he really should have been nominated for a supporting actor oscar. The film has spun of a sequel, 2 prequels and a TV series. But this is the gem of them all. What does the M4s think of this film?
