My two cents about Woody Allen. I dont presume to know the facts about Dylan Farrows accusations; how could I? But I do find it ironic that the apex of his artistry is supposed to be Manhattan, a movie about a 40-something genius with a 17-year-old girlfriend. A lot of the actors he directs assume his vocal tics and physical mannerisms (Mia Farrow in The Purple Rose of Cairo; Owen Wilson in Midnight in Manhattan), which is suggestive to me of a personality that is dominating or at least narcissistic, attributes I dont find particularly admirable or appealing. And even if he never truly was a father figure to Soon-Yi Previn, he was her adoptive mothers boyfriend. Setting aside the relationship and the age difference, it wasnt exactly gallant of him to take up with her. The film world can shower all the accolades on him that they like; I find him more than a little bit creepy.
