My wife Mary and I met at the Chicago Water Tower in 1957 we married in June 1960 at St Ignatius Catholic Church in Chicago. The Water Tower is naturally special to us. Until I read todays Trib story about Chicago City Council naming it Mayor Jane Byrne Park at the Water Tower. Democrats always grab beautiful landmarks and name them to honor some dead or living Democrat . Gross! To us it will always be the Water Tower at Loyolas Lewis Tower Campus. It should have been named after Frank J Lewis who I met when I was editor of Loyola News. Lewis was a multi-millionaire Chicago roofer. He roofed most of Chicago and donated over $20 Million Dollars to Loyola University and the Water Tower was where he wanted Lewis Towers to be constructed. Lewis was a simple man who wore a blue suit every day always wanting to give back to the community he loved not a vain Chicago democrat pol.
