My wife and I attended a seminar on how executive functioning effects people with autism. Social Skill deficits are normally of the main issues we think of with Autism. It is one of the main diagnostic methods to determine if a person has an ASD disorder. Executive functioning is how are brain the processes information, many times our brains do not put things together in the right ways. The reason individuals with autism has so much trouble with social skills is that the executive functioning area can not process, divide information correctly. Our brains cant read faces cues, cant process hard facts, or understand humor. Thus, you have a lot of misunderstanding going on when we try to communicate with others. We are not rude and direct on purpose, we just have a hard time communicating. The caring and love in my heart has a hard time of getting out to another person because I dont know how to say it correctly. If you are patient with me (most are not) you will know what I really mean. You just need to take the time to re-explain, or give me more details. If you are patient with me you will realize I really do like you. Many times I will say things that I do no mean, because my brain processes things differently. Please just take time to understand people with autism, dont just get offended and walk away. You can be a big part of understanding autism, and helping to solve the problem. Blair Hill
