My wife, who is from Iran, went to Pet Smart in Reston,VA to buy a couple gold fish yesterday. Persian New Year tradition is about arranging the Haft Seen or 7 Symbols on the table. The items are signs of spring renewal. Goldfish represent animals. Sprouted grain is used to celebrate the renewal of plants in Spring, etc. Apparently the manager of the fish department, having seen foreign people carrying out all her gold fish that morning, was prepared when my wife came in to take a stand, to stand up for the abuse of American Gold Fish by foreigners who just do not share our values. She refused to sell my wife a fish. Then she asked if we had a tank set up and a bubbler, etc. Since the fish was going to sit in a place of honor in a glass bowl supported by a stout piece of family silver until the holiday was over, my wife told her she did not need the tank yet. At that the FISH NAZI had heard enough and she just turned and walked away. My wife is a very polite and very respectful person. She was clearly disrespected by your employee in spite of her good manners and honest intent to purchase gold fish. So I have to say that people who care about the souls of nickel gold fish over the feelings of HUMAN BEINGS (especially the paying kind with credit cards) should go back and slap their mommas for raising them to be such idiots. My son is being brought up to respect people, no matter where they come from or what fools they may be, and I suggest you fire your Reston store manager as a good start at making at least one store about caring for and respecting CUSTOMERS (not goldfish) Peter Barthelson
