My wife, with years of teaching clinical anesthesia, informs me gravely that when we gag, our bodies are choking to attempt a defense against the vile particulates we taste and the ammonia burning our lungs. We can no longer turn on our attic fan at night because it often pulls in the stink from the CAFO a mile away. How could anyone think this is OK? “We’ve been told this stink is part of country living,” Mary Marshall said. “Move, if we can’t take it. Well, I’m a country girl.
