My wifes cancer returned 2 years ago and since then I have been her full time carer I write poetry as a therapy for me and this poem was inspired by me seeing to her needs at about 2.30 am. If you read it and like it please pass it on to your e mail friends and next time you pass a cancer donation box put in a coin. Lets give cancer the boot. many thanks The Carers View Its 3 oclock in the morning and the light is on in your room, Just as hundreds of others like you; you look out and gaze at the moon, But you are not there just to moon gaze, whilst there is a job to be done, You look at the person you care for, and continue to help your loved one, You get no days off for your pleasure, no overtime or holidays with pay, You do it because they need you, both during the night and the day, The commitment you give must be total, you love unbounded and true, But its hard at times to be cheerful, with always an optimists view, At times you get very discouraged, when things just dont go to plan, Its nobodies fault your just tired, not made like a superman, We do save the country a fortune, but we do it for love not kudos, we care and we nurse and we cherish, so loved ones will never feel lost, And now as I write this short poem, it says all that has to be said, For Ive nursed, cooked and cleaned and have polished, now I stagger off to my bed!
