It can be achieved on a smaller canvas, it can be achieved by broad strokes built on a solid structure: A vision, time, composition, surface dimension, structure, shaping, gestural expression, value, harmony, broad general coloration and presentation. True realism on the other hand is best achieved on a larger canvas: A vision, use of abstract structure, and many brushes requiring even tiny strokes to express reality: Vision, more time, perspective, gestural expression, tight drawing, harmony, structure, dimension, depth, mood, values, true coloration, and presentation.
