NAACP MILWAUKEE BRANCH EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP 2014-2015 SCHOOL YEAR ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: • Applicant must be an entering College Freshman, College Sophomore or College Junior. • Applicant must be a resident of the City of Milwaukee. • Applicant must be a citizen of the United States and seeking enrollment in an accredited college in the United States. • NAACP membership and participation is highly desirable, but not required. If Membership application and dues are sent in, they must be submitted separately. • Applicant must be a Full Time Student. • Applicant must possess a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 Scale System. APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS: Please read before completing this application • Application forms and required documents must be received by the NAACP Scholarship Committee on or before August 31, 2014. • The Scholarship Award is $1,000.00. • Scholarship Recipients will be notified by U.S. Mail by September 7, 2014. Only the student who is selected will receive official notification. REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS TO INCLUDE IN YOUR APPLICATION: • Completed Application Title Page • Completed Applicant Personal Information Form • Two (2) Letters of Recommendations from individuals other than relatives. One (1) Personal and One (1) Academic. • Copy of your Current High School Official Transcript. • Copy of College Application for Admission or Acceptance Letter from an Accredited College, University, Trade School or other Institution of Higher Learning. • Copy of NAACP membership card or receipt of membership. • One (1) Page Essay, TYPED. The Essay should explain your life’s ambition, what you hope to accomplish or achieve in your lifetime and what position you hope to attain. Please note all applications will be evaluated based on the following 5 criteria: • GPA = maximum point value is equal to applicant’s GPA • Quality of essay: Correct grammar usage, spelling and punctuation = 5 points (maximum) • Service to community organizations = 5 points (maximum) • Written recommendations = 5 points (maximum) • Compliance with deadlines = 5 points (maximum) Application and Supporting Documents must be returned in person or mailed to: NAACP Attn: Scholarship Committee 2745 N.
