Woodruff will also pay $9,000 in care costs to the Ottawa Humane Society for the care and medical treatment of Charlie, serve 100 community service hours, be on probation for two years, and agree to random checks of his living places to make sure he does not have any animals in his possession. In January 2014, Woodruff ran an advertisement in Kijiji (Canadas free local classified advertisements) to sell Charlie. The person who bought the dog was horrified at the pets condition and immediately brought the dog to the Ottawa Humane Society. A Great Dane should weigh approximately 120 pounds; when Charlie was brought in to the humane society, he weighed only 53 pounds. For six-months, Charlie has been rehabilitating, and in July the dog was adopted. He has since regained his weight and is living with a wonderful family. Authorities stated there were mental health issues involved in Woodruffs case.
