NANS: Future For Sale In Asaba! Nigeria is presently under an endemic trial. The future is bleaching. The Generational rout concocted by the older generation has penetrated the whips and caprices of the minds of the younger generation, raising a lot of questions on where lie the hope? Dear Change Agents and good people of Nigeria, we can report that the largest student body on the continent of Africa, the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, is presently holding her 27th Convention in Asaba, the oil rich Capital City of Delta State. Without much ado, country people, that NANS has been hijacked by rogues, non-academic students, criminal-minded and intellectual liliputs is no longer a current phenomena, today, the bone of contention is: How can NANS be returned to her owners-THE STUDENTS? The panacea(s) to the sucked, pathetic, ghastly and dying state of NANS was the major issue all the Presidential Aspirants were confronted with in all the campuses they visited in the course of electioneering. Today, the election will hold. However, confirmed report reaching us has it that the hope of returning NANS to campuses has been dashed as the Presidential Aspirants have recklessly and shamefully been inducing delegates-The Students Union Presidents, SUG of all Tertiary Institutions Nationwide with an apparent ill-gotten cash. We were confidently informed that one of the Presidential Aspirants, Ahmadu Jubril, the incumbent Vice-President, National Affairs of the association, is sharing a whooping sum of N50,000 to each delegate. Most of the delegates have been camped by him in 5-star hotels on Asaba courtesy of Mr. Jude Imagwe, the Senior Special Assistant to President Jonathan on Youth and Student Matters. Jubril, 32, who claimed to be an under graduate student of the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, ABU, Zaria, was a former SUG General Secretary and President respectively of the same ABU. Constitutionally, to contest as SUG President, you must be in your final year. Jubril, whilst claiming to be a Student of ABU, contested for the Vice-Presidential Seat of NANS and won. He has spent two year in office. Today, the Kogi State born Jubril is a Presidential Aspirant and still claiming to be a Student of ABU. Another Aspirant, Tijani Usman, 39, according to impeccable sources, has started lobbying delegates with cash. Usman was the Deputy Senate President of NANS in 1999. 15 years ago. Today, the Kogi born Usman is a Presidential Aspirant. Now, consequently, may we ask, where lie the future? When would NANS be returned back to campuses? This is a Classical example of Future FOR SALE!
