NAQ Academic Excellence Awards, NAQ person of the year and Acknowledgment of Special Achievements or Awards - 2012/2013 Dear community members: The time has come once again to recognise people in our community who have made us proud through their personal achievements and exceptional qualities. As in previous years, the executive committee of the Nepalese Association of Queensland Inc. (NAQ) is in the process of honoring outstanding community members in the fields of Academic Excellence and Community Services for the year 2012/2013. From this year on, NAQ will also acknowledge our community members who have received any special / national achievements or awards. For this task, the NAQ executive committee has formed a three-member selection panel consisting of Mr Mana Mohan Ranjit , Mr Mohan Sharma Kaphle and Dr Samyukta Karki. On behalf of NAQ, we are seeking nominations -- for (1) Academic Excellence Awards, (2) NAQ Person of the Year 2012/2013, and (3) Special achievements or awards -- from eligible Nepalese community members in Queensland. 1. Academic Excellence Awards - There are three categories under this award: a) High School Level Selection Criteria: Outstanding academic performance in high school Year 12 examination in Queensland (or equivalent from other States) during the period 1 July 2012 to 30 June 2013, with preferred achievement of OP5/equivalent or better. (Everyone who has achieved minimum of OP5 will be awarded a certificate) b) University Level (Bachelors and Masters) Selection Criteria: Outstanding academic performance in Bachelors or Masters Degree in any discipline from any university in Australia during the period 1 July 2012 to 30 June 2013, with preferred achievement of GPA 5/equivalent or better. c) PhD Degree Selection Criteria: Completion of PhD degree during the period 1 July 2012 to 30 June 2013. Please attach a copy of relevant supporting documents/credentials (e.g. OP score, GPA, Certificate/s, whichever is applicable) together with a brief curriculum vitae as part of your nomination. 2. NAQ person of the Year 2012/2013 – Outstanding community services award Selection Criteria: Any eligible member with outstanding dedication and contribution for the welfare and service of the Nepalese community in Queensland, or outstanding contribution towards promoting sports or Nepalese culture, and/or outstanding achievement in the areas that contribute to raising the positive profile of the Nepalese community in Queensland. Contribution for this award should particularly be demonstrated during the period 1 July 2012 to 30 June 2013. Please include a summary of your contribution/s and brief curriculum vitae as part of your nomination. 3. Acknowledgment of special achievement or award Selection Criteria: Any eligible person in the Nepalese community who has received a special/national achievement or award in recognition of his/her outstanding services, abilities, characters, skills etc. in any field of his/her interest or delivery. Please attach a copy of relevant supporting document/s or certificate/s together with a brief summary of your contribution or achievements as part of your nomination. The winners of the awards will be announced at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of NAQ Inc. to be held on Saturday, 26 October 2013.
