Please speak up for the Sheldon horses. Their ancestors are former - TopicsExpress

Please speak up for the Sheldon horses. Their ancestors are former cavalry mounts. They DO NOT deserve the fate that seems to fall to every horse rounded up from Sheldon. Here is my letter. Please send yours. Mr. Day, I am extremely concerned in learning you are planning to remove all horses from the Sheldon Refuge. I implore you NOT to remove these horses. They are of significant and historical importance of all taxpaying Americans; true living monuments that served our brave men and women in the U.S. Armed Forces. Quite simply Mr. Day, they deserve much, much better than this. Should the unfortunate decision be made to remove these horses you are duty bound to treat them humanely, and to provide information to concerned citizens as to what the final destination of these horses are. With all due respect Mr. Day, the past removals of horses from Sheldon has a sordid history; something that no governmental agency should be proud of. Sheldon horses have been found in kill pens right off the contractors chosen for the roundup. Perhaps most heartbreaking of all is the horrific images of foals hog-tied and left to die in the desert. These gruesome images, together with the fact that so many Sheldon horses are simply unaccounted for to this very day is NOT acceptable. My tax dollars are paying for this Mr. Day. My tax dollars pay for your salary and the salary of your employees and the contractors you employ. I wish to state with all due respect Mr. Day, I am holding you personally responsible. Sincerely, Rhonda Lanier Vista, CA
