NAREP Defends Failure to Participate in By-Elections The National Restoration Party (NAREP) has curved in to defend their failure to participate in by-elections despite claiming that they are growing. Party president Elias Chipimo said his party was absconding from by-elections for strategic reasons. Chipimo said he was concentrating on consolidating the party structures before committing to participating in by-elections. He said the by-elections had been a costly venture to the country and an unnecessary cost. “We have our own reasons for not participating because we are consolidating our structures across the country. We are building and maybe after that we can consider participating,” he said. “You should also understand that most of these by-elections are costly to the national treasury and are unnecessary given the manner they have been created.” Chipimo said his party would continue being vocal on the political scene providing checks and balances. zambiareports/2014/09/15/narep-defends-failure-participate-elections/
