NAS JRB Housing Service Center A Required Stop for All Did - TopicsExpress

NAS JRB Housing Service Center A Required Stop for All Did you know there is a DoD Housing Service Center (HSC) here at NAS JRB NOLA? No, they are not part of Patrician Military Housing but an actual Navy Housing Service Center. Many questions have been asked as to why, effective Jan. 1, 2015, all members reporting to this area must report to housing before signing a lease, either in community housing, the Rental Partnership Program (RPP) or Public Private Venture (PPV)/Patrician Military housing. The reason is simple. It’s for the military member’s benefit. The Commander, Navy Installations Command, Instruction 11103.1 dated 12 Dec 2011 states that housing referral counselors at U.S. locations (including Guam and Hawaii) will advise members on the Service Members Civil Relief Act (SCRA), 50 U.S.C. App §§ 501-596, as a condition of lease signing. Where appropriate, or as required, the military clause will be revised to reflect these conditions. This means that the DoD/DoN Housing Service Center (HSC) is your advocate to ensure both you and DoD assets are protected. The HSC provides numerous services such as lease negotiations, formal mediations, fair housing laws, conflict resolution and ensuring that leases meet the DoD minimum criteria. The HSC helps people find homes in the local area, discusses crime, school ratings and things people need to know relevant to finding safe, affordable housing. Also, the HSC is responsible for reporting BAH in the local area to higher HQ. It provides data integrity for reporting and assurance that BAH rates stay comparable to the actual rental market. NAS JRB New Orleans is the servicing housing office for the New Orleans area and tries very hard to ensure all service branches core criteria are met, while meeting the Navy lead requirements for joint/reserve installations. For more information on individual service requirements or for general housing questions, please call the HSC at (504) 678-3280.
