NATIONAL FRAGILE X FOUNDATIONS FUNDRAISER: LOUISIANA FRAGILE X WALK FOR A CURE BENEFITING: National Fragile X Foundation EVENT DATE: MAY 03, 2014 DAYS TO GO: 38 THE STORY: Fragile X families across Louisiana are coming together to raise awareness for Fragile X Syndrome. We hope you will join us for a day of fun, food and festivities that we are sure you and the whole family will enjoy. What is Fragile X? Fragile X Syndrome (FXS) is the most common cause of inherited mental impairment. This impairment can range from learning disabilities to more significant cognitive disabilities. It is the leading known cause of Autism. Individuals can be mildly to profoundly impaired. Individuals with FXS often have speech & language delays, issues with behavior and sensory processing, fine motor delay and hyperarousal. To learn more about FXS go to fragilex.org. The walk will be held in Marksville, LA starting on the corner of Tucker and Main next to the Knoll Law Firm 233 S. Main St. Marksville, LA. 71351. There will be a 1.5 mile awareness walk through the city ending in the same spot and afterwards there will be a Fun Fest with games and prizes, face painting, bounce houses and slides, snow cones, popcorn, balloons, hot dog lunch and lots of raffle items.
