NATIONAL SAFE SLEEP DAY FRIDAY 5TH DECEMBER I runga i ngā tai o mihi, nei rā te owha e rere atu ki a koutou.Whakawhetū - National SUDI Prevention for Māori is gearing up for this year’s national Safe Sleep Day which will be held on Friday 5th December 2014. The focus for this annual event is on promoting safe sleep for babies - so that every sleep is a safe sleep. With just over 10 weeks until Safe Sleep Day, we invite all our whānau, provider, community and iwi networks to register your Safe Sleep Day events and activities on our website –safesleepdaynz.org.nz. All registered event hosts promoting safe sleep to whānau will be sent one free Safe Sleep Day Campaign Kit which will contain: • Safe Sleep Day balloons, posters, stickers and a How-To-Engage-Media Guide to support you with successfully promoting your event. • a range of safe sleep resources to distribute to people attending your event (50 of each) Extra resources will be available at cost price should you require more and a price list will be available via our website on 4th October. In the meantime, here is how you can get involved: 1. Register your event on safesleepday.org.nz/eventsAll organisations who have registered an event will be sent one free Safe Sleep Day campaign pack. You will also be able to order extra resources at cost-price. 2. Join our Safe Sleep Day NZ campaign on Facebook - facebook/SafeSleepDayNZLike our Facebook page to join in on conversations and see what other organisations are doing. We will also be running competitions. Me aro mai koutou - stay tuned everyone! 3. Plan and promote your event!Events can be as simple as raising awareness of the importance of safe sleeping practices by encouraging your workplace to wear slippers for the day or you could plan a larger scale community event, such as a wānanga wahakura. Whatever the promotion - with your support Safe Sleep Day is an excellent opportunity for our whānau to access information and support to make every sleep, a safe sleep for their pēpi.
