NAZAROV 79.62 HAMMER, ARAI OVER VESELY KARLSTAD (SWE, Jul 16): Dilshod Nazarov of Tajikistan won the hammer at the Folksam Grand Prix with 79.62 (part of IAAF Hammer Challenge). Second Slovak Marcel Lomnicky 77.93 ahead of David Soderberg of Finland 77.57, his best of 2014. Japanese Ryohei Arai with 82.24 beat World champion Vitezslav Vesely 81.35 in javelin, third Ivan Zaytsev of Uzbekistan 81.03. Swedish star Michel Torneus leaped to 810 (+2.5) in the long jump and steeple record holder Charlotta Fougberg won the 1500 m in 4:11.89 PB. Young sprint talent Irene Ekelund was twice second, 11.54 (+2.7) in the 100 m and 23.43 (+1.8) in the 200 m. Winners from overseas, US Cleo van Buren 11.49 and Kineke Alexander of St. Vincent 23.40. Isabelle Pedersen of Norway won the hurdles in 13.09 (+2.2) and Ukrainian Iryna Kovalenko high jump 190. In the 400 m Rabah Yusif now running for Great Britain 45.67 and 100 m 10.21 (+2.2) for Ramon Gittens of Barbados ahead of Jamaican Sheldon Mitchell 10.39.
