NBA News Hall of Famer Bill Sharman, a member of three Celtics championships as a player who then coached the Lakers to their first championship in Los Angeles, died Friday at age 87, his wife told the Los Angeles Times.Sharman had suffered a stroke last week and died at his home in Redondo Beach, Calif., Joyce Sharman said. If LeBron James and Kevin Garnett are to trade their next round of verbal barbs Friday night, the exchange will come from their respective benches.James and Garnett are both expected to sit out Fridays preseason finale between the Miami Heat and the Brooklyn Nets, but point guard Deron Williams hopes to return from an ankle injury that has kept him sidelined since August. - Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo remained coy on a timeline for his return to action but said his right leg is stronger, he has been fitted for a brace that could allow for contact activities soon and he is anxious to be back on the floor with his teammates.Asked to update his progress in his recovery from a torn right ACL and any potential return timeline after he stepped to the podium, Rondo offered a wry smile and repeated what he said on media day last month: Ill be returning in the 2013-14 season.He quickly added, Im feeling great, working out every day. Im able to do more as far as compound workouts, versus me just doing one workout per day. Im doing more on my leg and Im able to handle it. Its getting better, getting stronger every day. -Owner Tony
