NBA! Oladipos NBA Learning Curve! Nov. 20. Its only been 10 games, but Orlandos Victor Oladipo is clearly struggling with finding his comfort zone running the point. Oladipo, the No. 2 pick out of Indiana, has been up or down in the early going, showing flashes of his talent and flashes of his youth. He has scored in double-digits in eight of the 10 games, averaging 11.7 points (second among rookies) on 38.9 percent shooting (37.5 percent on 3s). Hes also getting 3.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 25.5 minutes per game, all coming off the bench. But he has also struggled with turnovers, racking up 4.0 per game, most among rookies (Michael Carter-Williams is second at 3.0 per game). Most recently, Dallas hounded Oladipo into nine turnovers in the Mavs 108-100 win on Saturday. Its tough being who he is right now, teammate Jameer Nelson told the Orlando Sentinel. Hes the No. 2 pick coming to a new situation and a different level of basketball and is asked to do something that hes never done and play the point guard position. For him, he has a lot of people in his ear, and Ill pick and choose my spots when I say things to him because of that. Having Nelson -- who has averaged 2.2 turnovers in his 10-year career -- around should help the 21-year-old make the adjustment. Everythings correctable, so Ive just got to stay positive, Oladipo said. [The Dallas game] was just me trying to make plays that arent there. Ive got to simplify it, really. Its easier said than done. But once I realize how to do that, then its going to be better for me. The Magic know its a learning process for Oladipo, who played three seasons at IU (and mostly off the ball), so theyre willing to take the bad with the good as the team rebuilds.
