NBA scores 2014: The Warriors win 12 straight and 3 other things we learned Saturday night : Source: SBNation – All Posts:– Golden State is now 17-2 on the season. Maybe the Warriors won’t ever lose. They once again looked unbeatable as they set a franchise-record 12-straight wins on Saturday. It was a career night for Draymond Green, who set highs with 31 points and seven made 3-pointers while Golden State smashed one of the Eastern Conference’s premiere teams, the Chicago Bulls, in a 112-102 win. Down 12 at halftime, the Bulls took the lead briefly in the third quarter but couldn’t sustain a comeback. Golden State’s 33-22 fourth quarter was enough to put the game away. Green is making a case for Most Improved Player this season, doubling his scoring average to 12 points on 45 percent from the floor and 35 percent from behind the arc, all while grabbing nearly eight rebounds and dishing three assists a game. On Saturday, he was everywhere — in addition to his scoring, Green had seven rebounds, three assists, four steals and three blocks with only a single turnover. Last year, the Warriors’ defense was fantastic but their offense was only no. 12 in the NBA — disappointing for a team captained by Steph Curry. Somehow, Golden State has improved in both areas; they’re up to no. 4 in offensive rating, per NBA’s stats, and upped their no. 3 defense of 2013-14 to best in the league this year. On Saturday, it was Green scoring 31. On another night, it might be Harrison Barnes who steps up with five 3-pointers, or Shaun Livingston scoring 15, or Marreese Speights stepping up. For Golden State, it truly can come from anywhere. Their schedule does get tougher with four Southwest Division teams — the toughest in basketball — coming up starting with the Rockets on Wednesday. Someone will make the Warriors look mortal sooner or later, but with a 17-2 start, the Warriors have room for error. To win 60 games, they only have to finish 43-23 this season, and 55-win season is nearly a lock with only a 38-28 finish needed. There’s no reason to look that far ahead, though. Right now, the Warriors are the best team in basketball and haven’t lost since Nov. 11. Let’s see how they can keep winning. 3 other things we learned The Pistons are more embarrassing than the 76ers. Detroit only scored one point in overtime and lost 108-101 on Saturday to Philadelphia, which has now won two of their last three. Hollis Thompson it a game-tying 3-pointer on a corner turnaround in regulation, and Brandon Jennings made a complete mess of the game-winning attempt. Michael Carter-Williams assisted on the first two shots of the extra period and then iced the game with two free throws, almost recording a triple double with 20 points, 15 assists and eight rebounds (but also seven turnovers). Keep ignoring the Spurs — they don’t mind. San Antonio cruised to another victory on Saturday, beating the Timberwolves 123-101 with seven players scoring double figures. That’s without Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili, who sat with minor injuries, and only 19 minutes from Tim Duncan. On the bright side for Minnesota, Zach LaVine was excellent with 22 points, 10 assists and just two turnovers as he continues to fill in for an injured Ricky Rubio. The Kings desperately need DeMarcus Cousins back. He played Nov. 26 and has since missed the last five games with a viral infection that hospitalized him briefly. The Kings have lost five of the last six to fall to 10-10, and the only win was in overtime against the Pacers. It’s hard to judge the Kings for losses that come without Cousins, who’s the heart and soul of this team and in the MVP conversation this year, but Sacramento doesn’t have any room for error in the Western Conference. Play of the Night Eric Bledsoe is the best 6’1 blocker in the NBA. This shows why. He leads all players 6’1 or shorter with blocks this season with 15, including three against the Rockets. Bledsoe’s an incredible athlete and blocking shots is where his physical gifts shows up most often and most impressively. Players who Bledsoe has more blocks than? Here’s a few names: LeBron James, Chris Bosh, Blake Griffin, Kevin Love, Kawhi Leonard. 1 serious thing Derrick Rose pays tribute to Eric Garner with a shooting shirt in warm-ups.
