NCAA Championships, Day Three.... Kori Carter 53.21 world lead at 400 m hurdles EUGENE (USA, Jun 7): Third day of NCAA Championships had as top highlight at Hayward Field the excellent world leading and collegiate record 53.21 by Kori Carter at 400 m hurdles (her pre-2013 best was 57.10). Second olympic finalist Georganne Moline 53.72 also personal best and Turquise Thompson another PB 54.99. English Gardener as third this year under 11 at the 100 m, her 10.96 was new personal best. The same for second Octavious Freeman 11.00, third Kimberlyn Duncan 11.08 ahead of Auriyeall Scott 11.14. Another top sprint result was the improvement of World junior champion from Barcelona Ashley Spencer 50.28 ahead of 2010 World junior champion Shaunae Miller of Bahamas 50.70 CAC junior record and Phyllis Francis 50.86 PB. It all shows that the college athletes can mix the cards for the Moscow Team. Jamaican Natoya Goule improved again in the 800 m when winning in 2:00.06. Abbey D´Agostino got the 5000 m 15:43.68, Bettany Buell topped the pole vault 445, Jamaican Shaneika Thomas the triple 14.14 (+1.9). Heptathlon winner Lindsay Vollmer 6086 PB ahead of Makeba Alcide new national record for St. Lucia 6050. From men events olympic relay medalist Bryshon Nellum improved to 44.73 at the 400 m (4th best 2013) ahead of Trinidad´s Deon Lendore 44.94 PB, junior Arman Hall 45.02 PB and David Verburg 45.03 also PB. Another top mark and series of personal bests in the 400 m hurdles by Reggie Wyatt 48.58 ahead of Michael Stigler 49.19, fifth Jeremy Gibson new national record for Bahamas 49.39. Expected high jump duel of olympic medalists saw Canadian Derek Drouin clearing 234 (tried at 239) over Erik Kynard 231. In the 100 m dash too much wind +3.2 for the sub 10 times: Charles Silmon 9.89, Dentarius Locke 9.91 and Isiah Young 9.96. Other winners Elijah Greer 1:46.58 in the 800 m, Kenyan Anthony Rotich 8:21.19 steeple PB, Australian Julian Wruck won the discus 64.94 over Jamaican Chad Wright who improved to 63.74.
