NCBL or National Community Basketball League, previously known as - TopicsExpress

NCBL or National Community Basketball League, previously known as Non-Chinese Basketball League will features 58 teams playing in three separate divisions (in a single venue) this year. Probably the most highest number of teams entrance for full scale basketball (5 on 5, 40 minutes) at a single venue in Malaysia. Could be in Malaysia Book of Records (let me know if there is any other tournament that can beat this number, full scale, single location/venue). However, this league only open to Malaysian non-chinese. Why non chinese? That is another issue to be explained. Note that the key word here is non chinese, not malay or bumiputera, that if someone to play the racial card. Still, what Im trying to say here, why is this league has so many teams and non-chinese players participating, yet there are zero non-chinese players representing the current national squad. The obvious reason is most probably because the non-chinese players are not up to the international or national standard yet. But is it true? Is this reason is up for debatable? If it is true, whos fault is it? Or in another words, whos incharge in term of the development of the non-chinese basketball in Malaysia. If there shouldnt be a racial segregation in sports then why non-chinese category existed in the first place in the 90s? There are many other NC tournaments started even before NCBL such as Sedap/Petronas/MABA Cup and MB/UiTM Cup. The flaws, quality for example, is up for debatable/arguable but lets take a look from the positive impact of NCBL. The number of teams itself showed that THERE ARE A LOT OF NON CHINESE PLAYERS in the market. Yes the quality is far from good or great but the number is there and INCREASING. If 58 teams is still not enough, then there is definitely wrong somewhere somehow with Malaysia basketball system. #pushinglimits
