“Unless the Lord had helped me, I would soon have settled in the silence of the grave. I cried out, “I am slipping!” but Your unfailing love, O Lord, supported me. When doubts filled my mind, Your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer.” Psalm 94:17-19 (NLT) Things are not always what they seem. We must remember that the enemy is a deceiver although we constantly have the help of the Holy Spirit to find discernment in all circumstances. This means we take a moment to gather our emotions, compare our situation to the Word, listen and pray. If not, we may open ourselves to serious catastrophe within our lives and relationships. For years I lived this way. I allowed my emotions to completely erupt at any upsetting news bringing death to my precious relationships. I sensed my mind melting into absolute turmoil as I would spew faithless words from my mouth, binding the supernatural forces that were supposed to be my Divine allies. Such heartbreak. Such disaster. Such wounds I allowed. I was partnering with darkness and assassinating everything I cherished because I didn’t pause, I didn’t breathe, I didn’t look, and I didn’t listen. Oh but praise be to the name of Jesus, my Teacher, my Sovereign Shepherd! He did not leave me to a life of despair in my own wretchedness. He saved me! And as my trust continues to grow in Him, He unveils the evil plans of the enemy. Prayer: Father God, with all my heart, I pray You to teach me how to pause. How to tune my ear louder to Your Spirit and how to plant Your beautiful Word deeper in my heart. Soften my rebellious and weak flesh so that I will surrender at the foot of Your throne my King. I desire to allow You to be my Vengeance, my Provider, my Healer, my Destiny. In Jesus name, Amen.
